Strategy Meetings

A strategy discussion is a discussion conducted between Social Services, the Police and other professionals (for example, health and education) either in person or on the telephone, for the purposes of determining appropriate action where there is reasonable cause to suspect that a child / vulnerable adult is suffering is likely to suffer, significant harm. The purpose of the straregy is to ensure the safety of the vulnerable adult / child:

 

  • Allocate an investigating officer, which may be a Police officer.
  • Decide if a joint investigation is necessary.
  • Obtain help from other agencies in gathering evidence and support.
  • Exchange information across agencies.
  • Decide if any further action is required.
  • Decide if anyone else, including press officers, need to be alerted to any media interest.
A full record must be made, agreed and sent to all relevant parties. The Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) must be consulted concerning any allegations involving regulated care.
