The cost of physical healthcare treatment result from domestic violence (including hospital, GP, ambulance, prescriptions is £1,220,247,000, i.e. 3% of the total NHS budget. (Walby, 2004, p.53).

The cost of treating mental disorder due to domestic violence is £176,000,000 (Walby, 2004).

The overall costs of domestic violence are estimated to be £278 million p.a. in Greater London alone in 2001 in England, Wales, domestic violence was estimated to cost a total of £23 billion. (Walby, 2004; Stanko, 1988, 2000)
