Information on publications and legislation as well as many useful links. BBC - provides advice and a comprehensive list of help agencies. Women's Aid - national charity with details of local refuges, useful contacts, legal advice, policy information etc. Refuge - national charity with information on national help line, refuge services and important advice for planning your safety. Victim Support - national charity with information on support for victims and witnesses on all types of crime. Rape Crisis - national federation with information on local branches and important facts and advice. Freedom Programme - national website for the Freedom Programme with details of venues, training for practitioners, programme ethos etc. Contains similar information on training development for male perpetrators of domestic abuse. Relate - relationship counselling organisation offering a local services search, information on courses and an online advice service. Relate is not-for-profit organisation but makes a small charge some of its services depending on clients' ability to pay. Samaritans - national charity with information on services and basic advice, including a local services search. Samaritans handles out of hours telephone calls to Women's Aid services. The Hideout - for children and young people to find out more about domestic abuse and it makes young people feel. Find out what you can do and who can help. Action of Elder Abuse - works to protect and prevent the abuse, of vulnerable older adults. Rights of Women - voluntary organisation committed to informing, educating and empowering women concerning their legal rights. Women and Equality Unit (WEU) - the Ministers for Women, supported by the WEU, are responsible for promoting and realising the benefits of diversity in the economy and more widely. They develop policies relating to gender equality and ensure that work on equality across government, as a whole is co-coordinated. Resources for male Survivors: Men's Advice Line - provides a range of services aimed primarily at men experiencing domestic abuse from their partner. Services for Survivors within Same Sex Relationships: Broken Rainbow - provides a 24hr. help line service for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who are experiencing domestic abuse. Lesbian and Gay Switchboard - provides an information, support and referral service for lesbians, gay men and bisexual people from all backgrounds throughout the United Kingdom. Terrence Higgins Trust - offers a range of services throughout England, Scotland and Wales, regardless of sexuality, HIV status, gender, cultural background or ethnic origins. Forced Marriage: Direct Gov - UK government website detailing public services in one place. Forced Marriages Unit - provides confidential advice and assistance for those at risk being forced into marriage. Housing: Shelterline - provides information and advice around housing, but cannot house people. Refuge - has a network of safe houses which provides emergency accommodation for women and children when they are most in need. Legal Advice and Information: Community Legal Services Direct - provides information on legal aid. Citizen's Advice Bureau - provides free and independent advice and information services on all family, housing, employment, benefit matters, etc and has front line staff trained in Domestic Abuse. National Centre for Domestic Violence - offers victims of domestic violence help in obtaining an injunction free of charge. Perpetrators: Respect - provides a phone line for domestic abuse perpetrators, also welcomes calls from those concerned about a perpetrator. |
